I graduated from Arizona State University in 2015 with a degree in Mass Communication and Media Studies. While my journey with social media started years earlier, my professional career began shortly after that milestone.
I started as a social media moderator at T-Mobile, assisting customers on Facebook and Twitter with tech support, billing inquiries, and general account issues.
In 2017, I launched my own business, aiming to help small businesses establish their online presence. I worked with several local gyms, including seven Anytime Fitness locations, and managed social accounts, paid marketing, and branding for businesses across various industries such as dental, construction, real estate, and restaurants.
Each project came with a steep learning curve, pushing me to develop new skills in photography, graphic design, email marketing, and building click funnels. I taught myself how to succeed while supporting my clients, and when a project required expertise beyond my scope, I outsourced it to my trusted resource network to ensure my clients had a complete, all-in-one marketing solution.
Over time, I realized that structuring marketing efforts into specialized departments or honing in on a niche was a smarter business strategy. As I was refining my business model, the world came to a halt with the onset of COVID-19. My brick-and-mortar clients paused their contracts, forcing us to completely pivot our marketing strategies for those who remained.
During this period, I took a part-time marketing role at a local real estate brokerage while maintaining my client base on the side. At first, it was a great fit. I felt re-energized and confident in my skills despite the challenges of the pandemic. Over time, we even explored the idea of launching a dedicated marketing agency for real estate brokers, consulting with a CPA and attorneys to lay the groundwork. However, just a month before my wedding, they informed me that they were shutting down the marketing department in favor of a SaaS platform. They no longer needed an in-house marketing employee, and the agency plans were abandoned.
From March 2020 to March 2021, my business adapted to the uncertain landscape. Instead of scheduling evergreen content months in advance, we shifted to a strict two-week turnaround to stay responsive to global events. However, by March 2021, two of my biggest clients filed for bankruptcy due to supply chain disruptions caused by the Suez Canal incident. Their closure meant I could only cover my business expenses such as subscriptions for CRM tools, editing software, and SaaS programs, despite my best efforts to secure new clients.
At the time, many businesses were hesitant to invest in external marketing, opting instead for in-house solutions while navigating the economic instability. Despite the challenges, this period reinforced my adaptability, resilience, and deep understanding of how businesses can strategically build and sustain their online presence.
By 2022, the drive I once had for running my business wasn’t there anymore. I felt unsure about my direction, and with the world still recovering from the impact of COVID, it became clear that it was time to make a change in my career.
Between late 2021 and early 2022, I began “passively” applying for jobs, hoping to secure a more stable position than my business could offer. By the end of my job search, I had submitted over 350 applications and landed only two interviews, one being at The Walt Disney Company.
In the years that followed, I built a meaningful chapter of my career at Disney before transitioning to a startup where I was deeply involved in brand, marketing, and operations. That startup later experienced layoffs, which leaves me currently between roles. Even so, my career journey is far from over. I remain committed to expanding my skill set, growing as a leader, and making an impact as a female professional in my industry.
Some of my long-term goals include earning a spot on a 40 Under 40 list, becoming a CMO, and eventually launching a new marketing firm with the experience and insights I’ve gained. I also aspire to write a business book, a fiction novel, and a children’s book, each designed to engage different audiences and share knowledge on topics I’m passionate about. These goals drive my ambition, and I’m excited to keep learning, growing, and making an impact.
I’m always looking to connect with others for networking, collaboration, and mutual support, each of us on our own unique journeys but growing together. You can find me on LinkedIn or Instagram, the two platforms where I’m most active. Feel free to send me a message. I’d love to connect.
